How do I book a taxi/transport to attend training at Witan Gate?

If you require transport to attend your eCARE course at Witan Gate please request this 48 hours prior by emailing the eCARE  mailbox on eCareTraining@mkuh.nhs.uk.

All transport will pick up, and drop off  by the main entrance.

Morning course  – will pick up at 8.15am

Afternoon course – will pick up at 12.45pm

When I get to Witan Gate for training – who do I ask for if I am having trouble accessing the building?

If you do not know the name of your ecare trainer – Please ask for

Will every physio, physio assistant and occupational therapise need a smartcard QR code to undertake observations?

Yes they will

How do I record standing, sitting and lying down blood pressures for the elderly using a Welch-Allyn?

Manually – please record it in the manual observations section

How are left and right blood pressures recorded on a Welch-Allyn?

For blood pressure, please record in the manual observations section

What do we do if we have a collapsed patient brought into A&E with no name, details or relatives with them?

Same process as now – generate wristband and registration with details that you have. As soon as the person is known they will then join the two records.

Can observations be put in retrospectively after the event on eCARE?

Yes they can. You can insert a date and time of when you took the observations. When you review results, it will show when they were inputted as well as the time you took the observations.

Does a Welch-Allyn allow you to record an observation without being linked to a patient?

Yes you can record all observations without linking it to a patient. You could manually enter these observations later.

Can two people work on the same patient at the same time on eCARE?

Yes

Can we use multi-patient task lists for ANP’s?

ANP’s and others who work across wards and departments are going to work from a customised list, this will give you the most recent location or if they are discharged.

Can nursing staff set up patient lists before go-live?

Yes. Even if your smartcard is updated with a QR code, the UUID remains the same – once a list is set it will remain.

How do we easily move from user to user?

When in eCARE once the smart card is removed from the reader the individual will need to shut down the application by clicking the cross and pressing exit ready for next user.

Physio Outpatients – there are 14 physios and 11 pc’s how will they manage to share between patients?

The workflows are currently being worked through in AHP operational steering group with the AHP lead.

Agency nurse don’t currently complete Protos in real time as they don’t have a log on. Its inputted later by a different MKUH user, will this change with eCARE?

Agency midwives will have access to eCare in the future and will input accordingly.

Could the QRG’s have audio on them?

There may not be time to have audio added before go live. They are all loaded onto eCOACH.

It is possible to have two patients in same bed space?

No – you may only admit or transfer into a free bed space.

Will we have a list of floor walkers and which areas they are covering?

This is still being finalised but we will publish this once we have it.

How do wards and departments know what hardware is allocated?

Your Senior Sister or Matron for your ward should be aware of this.

Where will those who don’t attend the Super User conference collect their arm bands from?

These can be collected from the Education Centre.

When are we receiving the WoW’s?

The first set of WoW’s have arrived and they will continue to arrive until the launch date and numbers will be reviewed after Go Live.

Can we put ECG’s straight onto eCARE?

No

Can the clinician change the rate of infusion on blood sugars sliding scale insulin?

Yes

Will ICE be available after go-live?

Yes – it will have the history of results

Will EDM be available after go live?

Yes – it will have historical data

Will Paediatrics use eCARE in the ED department?

The current Paediatric drug chart will be used on Ward 4 and 5 and ED. If a ‘child’ is admitted to an adult ward by choice – they will by default use the eCARE drug chart.

Can the QR code on the smartcard be used by bm’s e.g recording blood sugars?

No

Who are all the ward link people?

These will be added intranet

What do we do about unreportable observations?

Put a 0 in the cell, right click and it will allow you to make a comment in the cell to say that the recording was unreportable/unrecordable at that time.

Will paediatrics have patient lists?

Not designed for paeds as yet.

How will paeds work with order comms and results on eCARE and the rest on paper? Will clinicians use clinical documentation on eCARE?

They will order as they would on ICE. Paeds will only use the depart process as part of clinical documentation as EDS is going down.

Where do we get locum and back packs from?

Locum packs will be in the site office as present. The operational process for Bank Staff is currently being agreed.
